Electric City Boxing Club one year anniversary! 6 June 2026
The second Cat Positive album, Electric City Boxing Club, was released one year ago today.
When I think back to rehearsing this record two summers ago, I think about how it felt like the four of us really coming together and forging our sound as a band. The parts Brendan, Eric, and Justin came up with shaped the album in a huge way—it would be a very different record without them.
Lyrically, this is a very personal album for me. It was interesting and special to hear the band's insights and what these songs meant to them. Last year, a couple people messaged me and told me it was their favorite album of the year. I was genuinely humbled and surprised to hear that. No one had ever said that about music I've made before.
I'm really thankful for all the support this record has received. We attempted a lot of different ideas, from power pop to emo to country-leaning singer-songwriter songs. It really encompasses the full range of what I'd like my records to be.
Not a lot of people have found this album yet, but you can listen to it today. The first half is front-loaded with hooks and a lot of the songs we play live. The second half goes a little deeper into storytelling, and I think it's a very satisfying listen.
I'm very proud of these songs.
The album is available on vinyl and CD. Quick side note: one CD sale generates more income for the band than all of our streaming revenue so far. If you'd like to support us and hold onto a physical document of this record, it would mean a lot.
Cat Positive will have some more show announcements soon.
Thank you to everyone who has been kind to us and supported this band.
Stay safe. Stay punk.
